Intercooler through hood!

Hey guys, I saw a product online where the intercooler sits on top of your 7.3 motor (shortens the IC pipes--more responsive) and the intercooler actually sits through your hood and pokes out the top. I can't find the website anymore, have any of you guys seen anything or heard of this?

I thought it looked BADA$$

Alex

The actual intercooler is dressed up nice, its hard to describe and i can't find it anymore dangit! I thought it looked way cooler than the hood scoops. It is setup so that the intercooler catches fresh air from above the hood but no air scoop or anything. I guess it may have been a custom thing but I remember seeing an option to buy one.

FOr that price I would do water injection and an intercooler delete pipe and see better performance gains.. Just my opinion tho

Are you talking about a water/methanol injection? I was looking into those but the guys I was talking to at BT Diesel said they really don't make a difference, just better fuel economy. They are really expensive and I don't give a crap about fuel economy, I will look at some more posts on here about those. Now the intercooler delete??? What is that all about? I will look around for that mod as well. Thanks for the other options I like to know I have the most productive stuff for every buck.

Who is BT Diesel? Never heard of them.. but water injection rocks. You are not adding a huge amount of power.. most ppl see 30-60hp with however methanol is ran.. But the great thing is the cooling factor of water. You can push the truck harder and keep it cool.

I will have water methane by summer. I will tow 3-5 days outta the week every week so I need to keep it cool.

Even without towing check out water injections. search through Ziggy's posts on here. He built his own. It's a pipe that goes from the intake spyder to the intake spider.

Here is hypermax's pipe for the H2E turbo to give u an idea

Hypermax - Product Display

Let me find Ziggy's post and i'll put it up here in a sec

I would not waste my money on that Jobe intercooler!!! It is a Joke and does not cool your EGTs any better than a bigger regular Intercooler. Why waste a perfectly good hood by cutting it up and throwing that hideous lookin Intercooler in there. You can spend you money much better than that

Jobe Performance is a joke. Plain and simple. I wonder why anyone would want an intercooler in the most un-functional area possible. Makes normal maintenance a nightmare.
