Hey guys been on here for a little while and need your help. I'll keep it short. I did the search thing and I really didn't get a good answer.
Vin number : F36SUEA3803
Should be 1979 F-350 4x4 Regular Cab LB XLT
My for report says it's a Super Cab?
Also it says it was built in San Jose'. But the U I though was for Kentucky?
Just not sure what to think now what's right and what's wrong. Here are some of the other items listed and some that I don't know what they mean. Tomorrow I will post a copy of the report.
Produced 1/23/79
Ranger XLT Series
6.6L 400 CID 8-Cylinder 2V ( I know this was removed and the 460CID installed)
WB 133"
Black Paint looked like it may have been blue
Exterior Sound Package ???
9.50 x 16.5/E black sidewall tires is this the 16.5 X 9.5 Wheels?
F36= pickup, F350 4X4 (supercab would probably start with X36)
S= 400 2bbl V8 engine
U= Louisville Assy. Plant
EA3803= 1979 Sequential serial number
This information is from the Ford parts manual for the 1973/79 Ford trucks
If you post the entire warranty plate info I can decode it for you.

Thank you!
I don't have the plate that's a problem too. I want to have one made.
So who ever looked it up or the information the looked at was incorrect about the Supercab part and the build plant.

You probably already know this but incase you don't, Kevin Marti reproduces both the metal door (warranty) plate and the paper cert sticker for the door jam that are both "dead on" accurate. Marti Auto Works - Concourse Quality, Hobbyist Price
Here are pictures of mine.
He can also furnish the special rivets for the door plate.
Those look great! You are correct I have herd of them. I had planned on sending for the full deal down the road. I would like to do that but how will I know if they will have the correct info unlike Ford? I may be wrong but I thought that Ford got the information from them? (I read that in a post somewhere so it was probably incorrect)

That actually is correct. Years ago Marti found out Ford was going to destroy it's old records and purchased the records from Ford.
When Ford needs info on our trucks (owner VIN request) they have to contact Marti to get it.
I don't understand the errors in the VIN decode but stranger things have happened.
I would give Marti a call and see what they say.
You can request a VIN report from them (there are several different versions, I think mine cost $45) it will have a photo copy of your warranty plate as part of the report.
Sound Proofing. The firewall and floor is lined with sound proofing material, as well as the doors are sprayed with sound deadener. Anti vibration dampeners installed etc... Makes for a quieter ride.
Protection group?
Front Bumper Rub strips with bumper guards, Bodyside protection moulding, with black vinyl rub strips. Bright Door edge mouldings. etc...
Security lock group?
Locking hood release, spare tire carrier locks, gas cap locks, etc...
Convenience group?
Intermittant wipers, map pockets, etc..
optional front spring?
Optional front spring package. Beefier front springs, usually one step heavier than standard for another truck with same GVWR rating.
[QUOTE=81-F-150-Explorer;8443727]I can help you with your other questions.

Do you have specific information on this pckg? I'd like to add all of this option. Anti-vibration dampeners, where are they and what are they, etc.
One of the anti-vibration dampers is bolted right behind the seat on the cabs wall below the window.
I do not have a pics of it though.
It's basicly a metal plate bolted to the cab to stop or help vibration noise. It's like laying your hand on a ringing piece of metal. Your hand absorbs the noise or vibration, etc...
As for the other parts of the package, the flooring and firewall insulation is the most essential as it keeps out the engine and road noise the most. The doors are sprayed with a rubberized sound deadener on the inside etc... etc...
i just bought a 73 super camper special. i was wanting to know if i could got help decodeing the vin and warranty card info. the warranty card says F35JCS40857 S6 43 F354 4 36J G A thank you for any help
F35JCS40857
F35= F350 2WD
J= 460 4bbl V8 Engine
C= Ontario Truck Plant
S40857= 1973 sequential serial number
The next series of numbers appears to be out of order.
Normally the series is WB, Color, Model, Body, Trans, Axle., I am going to take a stab at decoding but I may be wrong.
WB ? the first code on the second line should be wheelbase, which in your case should be 140"
Color S6=(S) Bright Dark Blue Metallic (6) Bright Medium Blue
Model F354= Pickup, 10000 GVW F350
Body 434= (43) There isn't a 43 listed for interior trim, there is a 4B. That would be Black vinyl, heavy duty w/ black appointments. (4) styleside box
Trans G= Automatic Transmission
Axle 36J= (36) 3.73 Dana 70 7400 lb capacity (J) w/ Power Steering
GVW= The next line should start with the GVW of your truck, in your case it should be 10000
The last code should be DSO= This is the district sales office that ordered the truck. American DSO's are two numbers, Canadian DSO's start with A or B but there should be a number past that to signify which office.
Hope I'm correct on this, like I said some appear to be out of sequence/incomplete.
Hope this helps.
Oh, I see that info is from the warranty CARD not the warranty plate. That would explain the odd layout.
I was thinking door warranty plate. Info should still be valid though.
