Lost my EGT probe fitting, Need help

Lost my EGT probe fitting, Need help
Ok so I was going to install my gauges today and I seem to have lost my egt probe fitting. 
The fitting that is 1/8"npt on one end and 7/16 compression fitting on the other end. I called all around town and no one will sell me just the fitting. I found a couple places online that sell just the fitting but it is like $15 + shipping!! So my question is can I just use a compression fitting from the hardware store?? They look the same to me but I am no expert on fittings. Does anyone know??

I would take the probe to the hardware store and get what you need. Nothing special about the fittings. Make sure it allows the probe tip to reach through it and get about halfway into the manifold housing and/or up-pipe to accurately read the temp.
