Okay now new problem just took it to lunch and now whenever i actually get on the throttle it dang near dies then its okay after a minute, its like its takin fuel faster than it can get it, any idea whats goin on?
Another thing you might try is to remove your filter and fill it up with Howes or diesel clean, lucas or any quality diesel cleaner and lubrican't.
Crank it and let run around 10 seconds then let it sit a couple hours or longer you may have some internal parts sticking and this has cleared it up before.
you said that you turned the pump and still have no smoke, I think you may have your pump timing retarted.
i turned up the pump in october and it has ran fine till now, its acting fine sometimes and then other times it don't wanna run for nothin, i am getting quite a bit of smoke now though so im not sure what the hecks goin on, i took the gas caps off to see if it would help if the tank vents were plugged but didn't help, is there anything electrical that could be causing this? or is it more likely injectors or pump? Any help would be greatly appreciated, i gotta move cows this coming weekend
Nothing electrical affects the running in any way, unless a magical electrical electric pump has been added.
A filter fuel or air can last a year or 10 minutes depending on bad fuel or driving in a blow.
What year are you working on. Do you have a water seperator.
The truck is a 90 but it has a 6.9, im not sure about the water seperator, probably do just havent looked for it, the water in fuel indicator has been on since i had the truck i just always made sure i changed the filter every once in whilei was just looking at an old thread about the seperator, would it be by the brake booster? or somewhere else? I havent been driving this truck much till the last month or so
On a 90 the water separator was on the fuel filter. The ones that had problems were on the 86 and prior. They were located on the firewall to the outside of the brake booster. Unless the filter stand was moved from the 7.3 to the 6.9 there won't be a water separater.
