Hello All:
I got the Scangauge ll today and plugged everything in, entered the TFT code and was very pleased. I shut everything off and routed the cable and when I plugged it back in
it just stayed in the "connecting" mode. I did try to force the PWM.
Any help is appreciated. Bill
The DD can not change tire size (that I am aware of) and can not run the additional tests that AE can run. AE still has its purpose, but I am happy enough to borrow someone's for that occasional need.
That's true -- and is why I have dedicated gauges for fast acting stuff. Bottom line is if you want to see everything you need on one gauge, this is it. Things like Pyro, Boost, Fuel Pressure, etc, need dedicated gauges. I watch battery V & EOT, full time until it's warm. Then I switch to something else if I want. I don't always need to see HPOP pressure, DC, etc, but I do look at it now & then. When I swapped injectors, it was VERY handy to see where the HPOP pressure was as the air was purged. As it slowly built up, the second it got to 500psi, the truck started. Took 2 or 3 5-10 second cranks to get it there.
Can you tell me what parameters you are looking at to monitor HPOP pressure? I looked on their website, and didn't see it mentioned specifically-
Thanks!

mike check out your other thread i posted up the pic for you....icp duty cycle % and icp pressure is what you read to see how the hpop is doing.....
and the answer to the thread question is BOTH! the scan gauge is good for on the fly and quick stuff but AE is going to be more in depth and complete for diagnosing stuff.....
Are we using the term “scangauge” in a generic sense or the actual scangauge product? In referring to the product they make three models ScanGauge II, ScanGauge D, and ScanGauge E which one is the best all-around one to have? I would assume SGII or is this entirely different?
Thanks for the info. I went ahead and picked up a SGII at AutoZone when I went to the bank and mounted it up in the truck right above my headlight switch. I know they have a list of gauges to choose from but I also know that not all of them will work. Is there a reliable list out there as to what exact functions will work and which ones will not so I don’t add gauges that will just read zero the whole time and I end up cycling through non-working ones to see those that work? I still plan on getting other gauges from Riffraff but this little item will come in handy.
Most seem to work, EBP gives what seems to be inaccurate readings on my truck. The ones I look at regularly and am confident that work are: EOT, IPR%, ICP, HPOP. HPOP is not on this list. Either the codes were on an earlier version or on a thread somewhere.
A standard x-gauge from the manual I sometimes look at is current MPG (MPC). MPG is only close to accurate if you follow the calibration procedure and the calibration goes out the window if you switch tunes.
I have not programmed in the MAT because the standard IAT seems accurate. Probably worth doing a comparison. This data should be pulled from the MAP sensor.
Boost and tranny temp seem accurate but are redundant with regular gauges.
There are probably others worth experimenting with.
I will play with it this weekend and see what I can load on it and I would assume I could delete the ones that don’t work. I selected the dim light for the display but I will have to see if I have a color choice. I have so many items in the truck that give off light that if I don’t get close to the same color as the other stuff it would look like Christmas in there at night.
