fuel pressure problem

I have a 460 with a nice cam and intake and a little head work a fairly mild build but i'm haveing fuel pressure problems because it only has a stock pump on it. I know i need a bigger pump but i was wondering what fuel pressure i should be looking for and if i should stick with a mechanical one or go with an electric one?

I use a stock pump on mine with a Holley 750 dual feed with no problems. If you are having problems and the pump checks out ok there could be a small hole or leak in your line somewhere. There is no reason why a stock pump shouldn't work for your engine.

the pump i have on it is brand new and runs 6#s at idle but it drops as i rev it up especially around 3 grand. the truck that i have it in used to be fuel injected and I'm still using the stock style fuel filter, could that be causing my problems since that filter is intended for a high pressure system?
