hey guys new to the site, here's my question i have a 02 X 4X4 v10 i just installed a plow and the front spring suck i was thinking about doing the f250 spring swap. but then i thought about putting a add a leaf in the pack. i like the idea of the add a leaf because i dont have to take the leaf pack out of the truck. so to sum all of this up would the 250 springs be better then the add a leaf or would it not matter either way
Adding an recurved leaf to your existing pack will help but the old springs are still tired.
If you do the 250 upgrade get the W or X code as they are rated for a heavier load. The X codes, I have heard, are a bit harsh but will keep your front end up no matter what. I have the W codes on mine with an additional 300lbs of bumper and winch and I find the ride nice.

thanks i guess ill go with either the w or x code springs that just sucks because i have to pull half of the plow mount off to put the new springs on but o well
If your stock springs are already sitting on the bumpstop the add-a-leaf will get you more lift, and load capacity, but will still ride rough.
I have the X code with leaf on the front of mine - but no plow, it's stiffer than stock, but watching the air pressure in your tires it doesn't bother me.
I just put new springs in my 2000 x yesterday, it has 180'000 on it. I went with a spring from a spring shop as they were 50 bucks cheaper than oem and made in the good old USA, they are made by "Trangle" spring. New springs, U bolts, nuts and washers was about $380.00. I can get the part number if you want it. I looked into adding a leaf to my org pack and it was going to cost 300.00 bucks for two springs and all u bolts and nuts and washers. For 80 bucks more i get ALL new springs, seemed like a no brainer to me. I had about 1.5 hours in tare down and 3 in the build up. I put in the same spring as a "v" code spring from ford at 2630 lbs each pack, you can get heavyer if you want for you plow. I just came back from a shot test ride, wow what a differance! The truck now rides at 39" from ground level to bottom of wheel well, it was a hair under 37", with 1/2 on an inch when i stated. Let us know what you do.
thanks for the post i never thought to go get a price from a spring shop i hope after tonight and tomrrow i should make a enought to go buy my new spring
