Problems,....08.

Hey guys..

over the past few days ive had two problems pop up. Totally unrelated to eachother, but i could use some insite on either or both if anyone has had these experiences.

1. I got in my truck after starting it with the remote in the morning like every morning, put the key in a noticed the fuel gague pegged to E. The message center was up and it said 0 miles to E, as if i was out of fuel. I tried shutting down and restarting a few time..I knew for sure I was not out of fuel so i went to work and hit the gas station on my way. I topped off with 17 gallons (26 gal tank i think). When i got back in the gague was fine. any ideas?

2. Secondly, I noticed my backup sensors going off when nothing was behind me. I have a large hitch on there, but its never given me a problem sending false readings. I took it off to make sure and tested each sensor by unplugging the others. I found one that seems to be the problem child. Should this be a warrenty item? how much? anyone else have this happen?

1. Sometimes the sending units in the fuel tank do that. Sometimes its just an isolated issue, sometimes bad gas. Run some fuel treatment through it.

2. They are covered under warranty. Has it been real cold with frost? Sometimes if the sensors get covered in ice/frost they give a false positive.

I hope it says an isolated single problem, but idk. ill have to get some high grade and some additive to clean it up.

As for the sensor. Yea, before this problem i would get false positives from time to time, always was able to give them a clean of ice, or dirt or salt....Its been a problem thats been happening more and more and when nothing is behind me. I could be sitting still, put it R....and it goes off as if somethings behind me a few feet, and then it will stop. Or if i back up in the middle of a parking lot with nothing there itll indicate soemthing is really close and then farther away and then shut off and then really close, or in some random pattern similar to that. Ive isolated which sensor it is but unpluging one at a time, guess ill have to hit Ford this week.

Theres a tiny little crack that runs around the middle of the sensor....if ice or crud builds up in there you'll get false reverse beeps....
