Has anyone tried one of those plastic headliners that have the stereo speakers mounted in them and a place for your stereo. They run $180-200. I've seen them in several of the catalogs and was just wondering if anyone has tried one and were they happy with it. I have a 67 F100. I like having the original am in the dash but would like to have a decent stereo if it doesnt stand out too much.
thanks!
That is what I would like to know... I need to find out a good, neat and tidy way to mount the stereo speakers without cutting up the truck. Let me know of any good ideas you find.
Thanks TomC
Rob and Tom,
Can't speak to the new, improved built-in overhead sound systems, but way back there in the early '70s I put speakers in the headliner of my '69 F100. Was a bitch to wire and the sound was really lousy on any tunes with much bass...needless to say, Hendrix made the headliner humm like a #*!*#!
Years later I owned a 68 and had pretty good luck paying an audio specialist about $80 bux to mount two round speakers on each side of the interior; one in each door panel (doesn't mar the looks too much) and one on each side in the inside rear door post (over drivers left shoulder, riders right shoulder). Good sound and not much money outlay...just my 2cents worth.
