Replacement Stereo Stock

Okay i have a stock stereo exactly like my old broke one, I have plugged it in, but it only has the button illuminating lights working, no display, nothing else. Is it the stereo? Do i need to do something special, is there something about theft codes that i need to worry about? Can anyone help me? thanks

No, if it was anti-theft locked, there should be some message to that fact. I think you got a dud.
