Driveshaft yoke

I have a 1981 f-150, 302/c6 with 1 piece drive shaft. I am having a terrible time removing the yoke that goes on the rearend and the rearend I am taking the replacement yoke off of. I can't get a impact wrench to the repl. as it is in a barn. Any suggestions would be most useful.

Well, that ought to make the wife happy. She doesn't understand why a man has to buy so many tools. I can hear her now, you're only gonna use it 1 or 2 times, then it will be in that big red box of yours and by the way why can't I have a key to that thing? thanks for the info.

I've used a heavy socket and ratchet inserted into a floor jack handle when I've needed torque....not sure how much it makes, but a four foot handle generates an awful lot....

An electric impact wrench might not have enough torque. I agree with the breaker bar and cheater bar combo.

250 foot pounds.that's a lot of torque.and if you have used a breaker bar and snipe on a diferential you would know it's a PIA.as you try to loosen the nut ,the yoke will spin.an impact is the best tool, and the electric one's kick ***.IMO

My only experience with electric ones was an older Montgomery Ward one my dad had - they have gotten better since then. Even my air impact has trouble getting nuts that big off.

my electric one is 2x more power than my air powered one.in my younger years I tried removing a pinion nut off a old Jimmy I had,the tires were on the ground, ebrake was siezed, and blocked the tires.when I put the socket and bar on the nut the truck rolled.damn near ran myself overas the truck started to move.ah to be young and foolish.ha ha ha
