Rick - yes, that's where my stock seperator is located (no cruise) but one of the last owners took the lines off of it (took it out of line) and I was wondering what/where the line may be located?
It should be right there where where the old seperator was, mine was a rubber hose going down to a metal line that goes across the frame in line with the brake lines, the other line is rubber also that joins a metal line that goes back towards the fuel tanks
In this picture the two metal lines that turns to rubber sticking up on the left side were tied together when they bypassed the water seperator, if this dont make sense holler.
Their in line with the spring.
That is your oil pressure sending unit. If I was as smart as some of these guys I could circle and label those things, But I have barely learned to post pictures.
Yea two of mine has cruise and you can hardly see that thing. I know some engineer is still smiling on that one, It seems stupid to pull fuel uphill like that but I think the idea behind it is for when you change the filter it wont run back to the tank as bad.
That engineer can bite one as far as Im concerned! I drove my truck 12 years and never saw it until I started looking at this forum I didnt know what it was, when I took it off it weighed at least 5 pounds, full of gunk and lord knows what, that new NAPA deal sure is pretty!!!!
I just boght this setup today,Header is NAPA PART#4309,NAPA GOLD FILTER 3123 42$ for both
This thread is a bit hard to find because "separator" is misspelled. But here it is, 11 years later, and Rick Wallace's parts list for replacing the stock fuel-water separator on a 6.9 IDI is still a valid option. I bought NAPA part no. 4309 Fuel Filter Base and a couple of adaptors for 3/8 inch fuel line along with the NAPA Part No 3123 Spin-On Fuel/Water Separator Filter. I had to bore out the bolt holes on the base (to 1/2 inch) to be able to use the same bolts into the firewall as the stock separator, but that's all the customizing required. The stock separator had been bypassed by the previous owner.
The stock one isn't crap, it was factory equipment on all 3208 Cat diesel engines and worked fine. The problem is it's not compatible with IDI 6.9 fuel systems. Not one of Ford's better ideas.
