I used to work on this truck when it was new, but I didn,t put that on there.
I bought this rig about a year and a half ago, finally got around to picking it up today.

Get a # and make of the filter, I want to cross it to a Napa gold and see what the specs are.
I am pretty sure that is the same filter we used to use on big cam cummins. I will be pulling the motor and cab in the next couple days. That filter may have to go on my 86.
Not trying to hijack your thread, but got a question:
On my '86, there is a canister where your filter is mounted....what is it?
Mines not hooked up....if it is a water seperator I'll be hooking it back up or replacing/repairing ASAP.....
This is the stock original water seperator that you mention. It should have a pull ring on top and a hose that comes out the bottom. When you pull up on the ring it opens a rubber tip valve at the base of the unit letting any water that may be accumulated out the drain hose. If it's not hooked up chances are it either leaks fuel or air into the system which can reult in a hard or no start condition depending on the severity of the leak. Some people after draining will either plug the bottom of the drain hose with a bolt or valve. The unit ca also leak at the top of the drain shaft where the pull-ring is. This requires disassembly and isn't as common.
The truck this one was own had aftermarket cruise, so it was easy to get to.
It won't be nearly as easy on the one I put it on but it does use the stock holes to bolt it on.
