I have a 2000 F-350 two wheel drive Dually with a 7.3 diesel(71000miles). I was hoping to get some suggestions or personal oppinions on programmers that give better fuel mileage and are reliable. I'm not looking to make a ton of power or go racing, just better MPG's.
Any feed back would be great.
Injection Control Pressure sensor mods ($40 Ebay "chips") are going to be the best bang for the buck as far as fuel economy goes. They're not really beneficial for power (which you don't seem to be interested in anyway) but they give a nice MPG increase with a bit better "throttle" response.
I know every one around here is a big fan of DP Tuner but Im using a Diablo Sport Programmer on my 02 7.3 diesel and Im happy with the results. I went from 600 klms. to 800 klms.per tank with there 85 hp tune. Also I get the benefit of having a code reader that you dont get with the chip. And when I want to play I will put the 110 hp tune in, but dont expect to get millage when you do. Just my 2c
If you are towing a trailer with that thing I think an exhaust would be the best bang for your buck. That will set you back in the ballpark of $400. You could just straight pipe your stock exhaust for nearly free. You will notice it, but nothing crazy. At least you aren't out anything if you don't like it. BTW, diesels don't get much loader with a straight pipe bc of the turbo.
