I have a 2006 F-250 5.4 and i was messing around trying to see if i could isolate the tapping noise. I unplugged the 2 plugs on top of the valve covers that go to the variable cam timing phaser. now how do i get the CEL off?
My CEL went on recently. In addition to this, there is some "knocking" that i can hear and slightly feel underneath the floorboard. It is as if something is loose down there. I've gotten down there and checked it out but I can't seem to find what it is thats causing the knocking. Usually occurs when going over bumps or I can replicate the sound by turning the wheel from side to quickly while in motion. Anyone?
Also, when I turn the wheel (parked or moving) there is a squeaking sound that occurs. I've checked the power steering fluid and the level/fluid is good. It is an 04 F250 SD crew cab that i bought in NOV of 06 with 19,700 miles. It currently has 32,000 miles. I do some plowing with the truck but this winter has been the only one worth mentioning (as im in the N.East). Could this be a ball joint or u-joint issue or just a matter of greasing the right parts?
Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.
