I am using a 1976 wiring harness and converting it to a 79 setup and I would like to know where to find the ballast resistor. It is shown on my wiring print but I have yet to find it on the truck. Does anyone know where it might be located? Thanks for your help.
It is actually a red wire with the words "resistor wire DO NOT CUT" printed in white/silver lettering at numerous locations along its length.
When the one in my 73 burnt up, along with quite a few other wires in the wire bundle, I replaced it with a ballast resistor of the same resistance. I located the resistor under the hood on the sidewall where plenty of air could cool it, and if it burns up all that burns will be the resistor
Forgot to tell you where the resistor wire is. One end connects to the ignition switch the other to a splice inside a wire bundle just above the fusebox right before the bundle goes thru the firewall.
At least that is where it was on my truck. Hope this answers your questions.
