I have a 2003 2 x 4 Explorer with cruise control issues...
The problem is a non-functioning Cruise control. Switches seem to work, the Instrument panel light comes on, but the speed control does not function. The cable connection to the throttle body seems to be OK. Truck is a 2 x 4 V8. 45k miles.
Will this system be monitored by the OBD system? If yes, what are the codes?
This might be caused by the cruise control switch on the master cylinder; check with your dealer about a Recall on this item.
Steve
x2, same symptoms in mine and it was the the recall item. Do it sooner rather than after it causes a fire...(don't know how that happens, but why take the chance.)
What's your VIN number, or go here Recall Information - Ford and type it in and it will tell you if there is a recall that needs to be done. The reason it catches on fire is that brake fluid can drip onto the cruise control module and short it out and catch it on fire. All the recall does is add in a fuse so if it starts dripping, the fuse will blow if it shorts out.
