Cruise control not holding speed

I am trying to find out what others might think. Here is my problem. I have a 2000 F-250 crew cab 4X4. I have recently been having trouble with my cruise control not holding speed. I couldn't get the cruise control to work at all, so I replaced the brake sensor. That seemed to work for a while, and everything was great. Now when I try to set the cruise, everything lights up, as though the cruise is set, however, it won't hold speed. I am not sure what all I can check. I don't know if the cruise control motor is not working, or what.
Thanks for any help.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this, why would the break sensor have anything to do with the cruise control?

The brakes turn off cruise when you push the pedal.

do a search on this forum.. there is a post.. of rust inside the cruise control motor....and the post shows how to fix or replace it.

and YES the brake light switch is part of the cruise control circuit...
half for brake light ... other half is for cruise control.

Ok, I can see that but not the brake sensor. It must work off the pedal. Possibly the brake light switch even.

Oh crud, I just read the next post after yours I should have kept reading

The guy who did the post also did a cross post about how he used the servo mechanics for a cruise control component from I think a Ford focus and swapped out the mounting bracket. The reason he did this was because the ford super duty version cost... Oh... $250 and the ford focus one cost $35. Just different brackets.

Look for something like that. I remember posting to it. Look for the word "hack" - I think that was unique enough.
