I recently had my C-6 rebuilt(out of a '70 F250), and it hasn't been right since. Every morning when it's cold, I can hear what sounds like the torque convertor whining. Also, it doesn't want to upshift unless I back off the throttle. When the tranny gets warm, it's all good. Any ideas what could be the problem?
Although I rin a C6 in my F100, about all I know how to fix is the seals, filter and gasket, and band adjustment. I would take it to another tranny shop for trouble shooting. Then, if they find something wrong, go back to where it was rebuilt and ask them if there's something they'll do about it.
In my expierence when the problem you describe occurs there is something wrong with the lip seals around the pump. Could be that they were damaged during instalation. When you shift in reverse while cold does it take a while before it engages? I have seen this problem a few times and I just do the R&R but when I ask the tranny tech he explains that when the lip seals fail or or get hard, cold fluid passes by reducing the pressure to lock up the clutches but once the fluid warms up the seals soften and the pressure increases.
