Ok well I posted a few weeks ago about my transmission having problems and I think that it was the torque convertor locking and unlocking. Bt it was only when the throttle was held at 1/4 throttle cruising down the highway and if i gave it more or less throttle it would lock back up until I when back to 1/4 throttle. Now it stays unlocked no matter what until I give it about 3/4 throttle and then it locks and takes off, and as soon as I go below 3/4 throttle it unlocks again no matter what speed. And another thing this is a very intermitant issue, it hasn't happened since I last posted so its very difficult to track it down. So my question is is there something that controls the torque convertor and has to do with the TPS? Or could it have something to do with the TRS? I'm really drawin a blank here on this one guys.
Thanks
Richard
ps if this makes no sense i appologize, I'll fix it tomorrow im going on 8 hours of sleep in the past 72 hours.
Have you checked the wiring plug on the side of the trans ?. make sure the connection is clean & tight , also look at the PCM plug , look for the same ...Any fuses blowing ?
None of the plugs look to be tight and clean, but I'll pull them apart and physically clean them and give them some dielectric grease just to make sure. None of the fuses are blowing. What should i be looking for at the cooler? And what controls the lock up of the convertor?
PLEASE DISREGARD the OIL COOLER. The oil cooler should have nothing to do with it. (I was keeping Rick on his toes as he does to me). :-)
I read in another thread that a brake light could out could make the TC come on.
ahhh you did mean oil cooler i thought just made a mistake and were thinking tranny cooler lol. Ya i checked my lights and they are all working because i knew that an out light has been known to do some effed up stuff.
Any specific reason why Rick? I always thought that it was good for that kind of thing but i could be mistaken. And what exactly controls the convertor and tells it to lock and unlock?
It doesn't have any grease from the factory , so I don't use it ,, I rely on the seal...Bill(Mad Van) will have to explain further ...I only know a little about the cold shift sch....
