Torque Convertor Lock-up Question
Torque Convertor Lock-up Question
Does anyone know if you can buy something or change something to make my truck's torque convertor quit locking up so soon or unlock before it downshifts? My problem is when I am driving the damn thing locks the torque convertor at 26 mph in Drive and it won't unlock it when I a get farther into the throttle (climbing a small hill) it just lets me about floor it and then it downshifts to 2nd. Same thing with O/D. It shifts and locks the torque convertor at 31 mph!! It drives me nuts. I do have 4:10 gears with 31" tall tires. Can something be changed or can I get a custom chip? The tranny has been rebuilt (bad tranny cooler in radiator) and still does the same thing.
no luck on this one. i've been wondering about this for the longest time. if the T/C would unlock on small grades then you could stay in O/D longer. one reason for quick lock up at slow speeds and not unlocking when it would be nice,- is to keep the tranny fluid from heating up too quickly. torque converters that are not in lockup really heat things up quickly.
