I was wandering what is a normal amount of oil mist coming out of the vent? Is it normal for oil to be coming out of the vent on a regular basis? Also I noticed if I take my oil cap off there is oil mist cmoing out of the oil fill tube also. Am I looking at more problems?
some oil mist is normal out of the ccv and the fill tube also some oils mist and smell more than others
the easy test is to turn ur fill tube cap upside down on the fill tube if it is not blown off you are ok
Sounds like your alright Terry, a light mist is ok, I have that, its the chuggin like a freight train you have to worry about. Just seen your post above, if the cap is blowing off, serious blowby, very bad.
Nothing like doing this during a thunder storm. Anyway, the cap does not blow off, just ends up vibrating off. I was figuring that being behind on my oil change by a conciderable amount of miliage and the oil being a bit thin may have been causing some of the excessive blow by. After changing it the blow by did lessen, but there was still some. I have never noticed this before so I was unsure. It was enough though before I changed the oil that there would be enough in the air intake system that it would leak out of the orange tubing onto the valley of the engine.

Normal for the boots to seep oil vapors, thats why you see so many of us with "CCV mod" or like in our sig's... Then your boots stay clean and in place!

That was what I figured. I have just been leary about doing that mod for the chance of the line getting plugged and causing excessive pressure in the case.

Make sure it has slope and you will be fine. The only time people have issues is when they run it clear to the back of the truck...
I am a 6.9 diesel owner, and I was just wondering if you guys have had any problems with the inside of the cab having a faint smell of burnt oil when you come to a stop? It seems to be only when I have the blower on, but it is really annoying. I saw your posts and thought maybe you guys may have some insight on this sort of problem. Also, maybe a little far fetched, but I am wondering if my CCV is "misting" like you guys are talking about, and its getting on my exhaust and I smell it at an idle because of no movement. I may have answered my own question, but I just figured I would see if that makes sense. Thanks.
