I'm getting on with my cab switch. I have a 79 with a 351m and am swaping a cab off of a 74 with a 390. The 79 has electric ignition and the 74 doesn't. I thought if I could find out from you guys if the distributers are interchangable, or if they are not, can I get one with just points for the 351m. This would make the whole wiring alot simpler after swapping cabs. Thanks.
NB
If you mean are the 390FE and 351M distributors interchangeable, then the answer is no not even close.
If you mean are points 351M and electronic 351M distributors interchangeable the answer is yes.
Why not use the 351M electronic distributor? The wiring isnt that hard to do and you have all the neceesary parts, dizzy, duraspark box and engine wire harness.
Just go to <a href="http://users.erols.com./wrljet/engines/duraspark.html">http://users.erols.com./wrljet/engines/duraspark.html</a>
It shows how to install the Duraspark wiring in the old points type trucks.
Good luck.
