429 exaust manifolds

Need to pick a few brains out there. I'm swapping a 429 into a 70 f250 4x4 and the exaust manifolds are hammered. Cracks everywhere, so using them is out. I'm having the heads worked tomorrow and I would like to keep a stock exaust manifold if at all possible. Is there a higher flowing exaust manifold for the 429/460 motor? I'm tempted to get another stocker and polish the guts for a smooth path out, but thought I would ask around first. Hear of anything? Thanks, H.

I have a 73 F250 with a 70 F250 cab on it. I run a set of L&L fenderwell headers. They look great and are much better than the stock exhaust manifolds. If you would like I can email you a picture of the headers installed with the front clip off and will it on. One last question, if you are going as far as to work the heads why even consider using the stock manifolds?

Ron, thanks for the info on the L L block hugger headers. Yes, I would like to see them on your application and ...do you have a 429/460?
To answer your question on my contemplating using stock exaust manifolds, I say this...

It has been my experience with headers that they are mostly a pain in the butt. If they do not leak, they offer an increased amount of heat to the engine compartment not to mention noise. Don't get me wrong, I love to hear the throaty sound of them and haven't completely ruled them out yet. I'm just not sold on them with my application- the 429. These heads will flow great when completed and should give ample power reguardless of my decision on the header/stock issue. It would be foolish not to check out all options, see?
