i dropped my o-ring set a while back too. only mine was on top of a car battery. in the car. needless to say i didn't get all mine back. i didnt actually knock it over. an employ did it for me while i was doing "his" job. i say i dropped it cause if i hadn't had it there it wouldn't have happened. oh well..........
next time before you set the box on the ladder... call imperial supplies (or Imperial Supplies LLC) and get a catalog... lots of truck/hardware and such... in the hardware section (b-25) there is a nice o-rings gauge page where you can lay the orings and size them by diameter and cross section... both metric and fractional sizes charts..
just saying..... 'cause youknow you're gonna do it again !
later

Damn straight I'm going to do it again. Not because I plan to, just because Murphy's Ohio cousin lives in my garage and crawling after all those O-rings was the worst "dropped and lost part" episode I ever had. Murphy's cousin surely knows that and you know what that means!
I have visited the site you recommended and I believe it has some merit. Next time (and there WILL be a next time), I'll compare the "hang 'em" and Imperial Supplies catalog methods and report on the pros and cons of each. I'll give a "ringing" endorsement to the winner. Oh Lord, I kill myself sometimes ...
