Not exactly the BTS part of it but the Precision Industries part of it did
Starting making a bunch of racket from the TC, then hit passing gear on the interstate and i just felt a neutral cut out. Next thing I know I'm steadily loosing speed over the grade, but got it home ok, seeing as I was only a mile from home when this happed.
I'm going to give Brian a call tomorrow morning. Shoot, the darn torque converter and trans has only been in there since September 11. Maybe 10-12k miles at most.
I am looking forward to dealing with Brian again and his great customer service. Im sure everything will work out. I'm thinking about buying a trans jack, im sick of dropping trannies with floor jacks.
Called brian day after i posted here. Told him the scenario, he said since he can't be 100% sure its the converter, he is going to send me a shipping crate and just ship the whole thing back and he will go through it and give me a new converter and new fluid on the way back
Did'nt get around to dropping the trans until today, due to working 2 job and having no time. Got it dropped out today and in the crate ready to be shipped off.
Can a regular transmission shop not work on a BTS transmission? If I had an automatic transmission built by BTS and it broke, it would absolutely devastate our business sitting there twiddling our thumbs waiting for a shipping crate, all the shipping and waiting for the fixed tranny to be delivered.
Good Luck Nic. You are in GOod Hands with Brian. Im wondering if you were running stock tunes with the Trans, that maybe that didnt help it out? I ehar you are recommended to get tunes for the trans when it is installed. I have had mine in Since Oct 30th and love it.

What other options do you have? I would say that if I had a BTS that went bad and explained the situation to brian I would have to say that he would do everything in his power to get you running within a week.
That's how good he is..
I mean if you have anything as big and complicated as a automatic tranny go out would you take it to just any shop??

I don't know all of the stipulations BTS has with their units. So if it was an option to have it repaired at a reputable shop locally w/ parts from BTS, I'd go that route, especially if it meant I wouldn't be down and out for a week plus. I mean, it's an automatic transmission built with high quality parts and a stronger tail shaft. Why couldn't a reputable shop work on it so I can get back to work ASAP?
So if your Dieselsite adrenaline went bad you think Bob Riley would be ok with you taking his pump to a reputable shop like Joey at Terminator engineering?
As a trans builder, I would assume that BTS would want nobody but BTS touching there gear
Edit: If he can get it up and running in less than a week that's amazing.. transmission work is a nightmare

So if the Dieselsite pump puked a seal, I'd have to take it off of my truck, ship the entire pump to Dieselsite for them to install a new seal and send it back? Not a feasible option for us. Not when I can take a stock HPOP to a reputable shop and have if fixed, fix it myself or fix the Dieselsite one myself.

Then they wouldn't be a feasible option for our business. If our truck were a toy like my Jeep it would be fine. Our truck makes us money.
All of my vehicles have manual transmissions. If I went with an automatic, I'd go the same route Izzy has gone with his transmission kit. Then I wouldn't have to uninstall it and ship it across the country to have it looked at.

Why criticize the OP for "wanting" (should be 'having') to do business again with BTS; or BTS for following through on their warranty and even sending a shipping crate to ship it back? One reason Brian does all his own work is so if something happens, then it's his fault and he'll fix it. If you take it to another shop and something breaks again, why should he warranty it, he didn't do the work on it.?
If your local shop is reputable, and you can get it in and out within a week; either you own the shop, dating the owner's daughter or have some definite pull in saying who's transmission they work on. When I had transmission work done (not by choice), I took it to a local diesel shop that is reputable, but I had to take it in when they had time to work on it and then it took more than week to do. You usually can't get the best of both worlds; have a highly reputable shop, and have your work in and done quickly. If they're reputable, they are usually swamped with work... because they are good.
Nick- Hopefully you get your truck up and running again! It must have been that new turbo, just putting out too much power the tranny couldn't handle it...
