I'm not criticizing. I'm just wondering if it's an option to have it repaired at a local shop so he doesn't have as much down time. I can't have that much down time because of our business. I've been fortunate not to have tranny issues with my truck. I had an issue with my Jeep in Vermont. I pulled my AX-15, brought it into the shop and they literally handed me a completely rebuilt one for a core exchange on the spot. The same exact thing took place when I upgraded to an SM465 from my AX-15 in New Hampshire. That's my experience dealing with two reputable tranny shops. I hope the guy gets his tranny issues worked out and from what I've read, BTS is good stuff and they'll square it away.

If you take it to another shop and something breaks again, why should he warranty it, he didn't do the work on it.?

If your local shop is reputable, and you can get it in and out within a week; either you own the shop, dating the owner's daughter or have some definite pull in saying who's transmission they work on. When I had transmission work done (not by choice), I took it to a local diesel shop that is reputable, but I had to take it in when they had time to work on it and then it took more than week to do. You usually can't get the best of both worlds; have a highly reputable shop, and have your work in and done quickly. If they're reputable, they are usually swamped with work... because they are good.

Nick- Hopefully you get your truck up and running again! It must have been that new turbo, just putting out too much power the tranny couldn't handle it...
Right on Adam

And for all you guys getting your panties in a bunch about downtime, I chose to have MY trans FIXED. Brian said he would ship one out according to my build sheet if I so desired.

No, STL. Probably wouldn't be worth the drive as they're pretty cheap when on sale at harbor freight, but throwing it out there.

Then they wouldn't be a feasible option for our business. If our truck were a toy like my Jeep it would be fine. Our truck makes us money.

All of my vehicles have manual transmissions. If I went with an automatic, I'd go the same route Izzy has gone with his transmission kit. Then I wouldn't have to uninstall it and ship it across the country to have it looked at.
Sounds like you know the answer.....aftermarket mods aren't for everyone. If it's not an option, then stay stock. BTW, stock goes bad too and there's down time when that happens.

mechelement, I can understand where you are coming from with down time, but I'll play devil's advocate. Lets say you are a trans builder and you build me a trans. I have a problem, and call you and tell you that I can't be down for long so I'm taking it to the local trans guy that has a good reputation. He botches something (hey, we're all human) and the trans craps out on me. Now I'm calling you up for a new trans on your dime since the one you sold me is crap now...
I can understand Brian not wanting other people poking around inside the trans. From what I've read, he puts a lot of pride in his work and his warranty and will stand behind his product 100%. It's hard to do that when you've had multiple different players on the court.
