ignition switch

How do you go about removing an ignition switch in an 99 SD.

On my 03 SD you remove the bottom half of the strg. column cowl and you can see on the ign. switch barrel there is a little hole with a round chech ball you push this in as you pull out the ign. switch.

You must have the key in the lock and turned while pushing the pin to remove the switch.

YES. but it get extreamly hard to turn at times. wd-40 helps a lil

this is a little off topic but does anyone have the color codes for the wires off the switch? i am trying to get a remote start on my truck and need the color codes what they goto and what not. thank you

Dry graphite is best. Sounds like either the key or lock is pretty much done. Better to change it now while you can still turn the key. otherwise you are gonna be hammering and drilling on the pin.
