Anyone Know if the 2002 PSD's have a keyless entry module or is there is only the security module? I am having keyless entry issues (the truck is not retaining the memory for my fobs) and no other issues, prolly not the VSM and I thought there was a keyless module under there somewhere but the stealership dufus said they don't. If they do will you tell me where to find this little gem and what it looks like? thanks gentlemen
Mark my man, then thats sucky cuz the repair dept said they change a ton of these(VSM's) out, and they said that the VSM is located on the left side under the steering column area, not on the firewall, you know if he was pulling my chain? I'm glad you know about this crap because i surely don't! Have a good day, thanks again for the input lasstnight and today, i am not going to do the foil mod on the door locks because they only fault in extreme cold, today about thirty and they worked flawlessly. probably be something i will have to do later on downb the road. What pricing am i looking at for the vsm and program?
The VSM is located directly behind the radio and slightly below. It will take you 10 minutes to take the lower center dash out to confirm
This is the VSM picture I got from someone else on the forum. Your PN might/will vary. The 5 digit 35471 number is your 'keyless' entry pad code if you have it on your door.
Got VSM from Ed (sponsor on this forum) paid ~$120 dollars BUT you have to have it reprogrammed by the STEALER. That was $145 for 10 minutes of work. I heard the VSM have been backorderd a while ago....
any chance i can get the one i have reprogrammed< what is the need for a new one? how do they get fried? Just trying to picture the whole scenario and maybe link my issue with something I've done along the way. Thanks Mark,
Mine was totally fried inside ie. the tech was not able to download the information from the old VSM to load it into the new one. He acutally had to use the build sheet from Ed to reprogram the new VSM from scratch.
Ok because I don't have any of the other symptoms at all, everything works fine, just the remotes aren't recognized by the vsm. I don't know if i can just get the remote portion reprogrammed or not. I will call the sleesiership and see what they say, and actually talk to a tech that replaces the things on a daily basis. Funny thing is....i used the be a used car salesman, ha ha ha! Been back to Land Surveying for three years now though so its ok if i hate them right? lol
