Thanks Tim, I'll go into the dealer this coming week and get the flash, does it also incorporate everything that was in the flashes previous to it or do they have to be done in sequence?. I've always been the guy that doesn't trust the dealer, so I stay away from them, except to buy parts. Guess I was doing myself (and my truck) a dis-service this whole time.
I believe the latest will incorporate all previous flashes, but maybe someone will confirm this. At least you avoided the FICM killer flash! As far as doing your truck a dis-service, I don't think thats necessarily true. As long as it has been working for you, thats all that matters. Some report loss of performance and even more loss of mpg. Mine gets 13ish mpg tops, no matter what I do. I'm OK with a truck that weighs 8600 lbs getting that, though. The diagnostics and the upgrades for the codes/SES is worth it IMO. BTW the flash should only cost around $100 in case you're wondering.
I'm still getting around 14.5 around town and 17-18 on the road... Not sure if I want to chance the lower mpg's. But if the flash(s) address any of the runability problems I'm having, including cold start issues, then maybe it is worth it. As I read the flash info, it seems to also address sticking injectors? Not sure how software could do that, but maybe it can...
I have 6.5" lift and I'm running 37" tires, so you'll probably do better than me The last few flashes, including the newest one heats the spools in the injectors so the oil flows easier until the fluids warms up.
it dose address sticking injectors. dose it cure the problem? sometimes yes sometimes no. but it sould at least make it alittle better. I just had the lasteset flashed installed in my truck a few weeks ago for $90. It didnt hurt my millage any I am like tim I get 13-15 tops no matter what I do, and I still get the same. Although I never really get a full tank of just hwy. I do a lot of mixed driving. So its hard to say what im getting on hwy untill the next long trip I take, but then again that is usally pulling 15k+ 5th wheel. even pulling that I still get like 11-12 mpg.
Ive been plugging mine in and I would say 10 mins tops the factory gauges are in the middle always didnt seem to matter if it was 10 below or ten above. I have been told I have two weak injectors when I had the ficm replaced a couple of months ago.
