Just remember, it you drive in falling or blowing snow, you have to block off or disconnect the ram air.
I have had my filter coated with so much ice it choked the engine out right after I built my ram air.
The snow went right up all the tubing from the front of my truck into the stock ATS air box where it turned to ice on the filter.
Have 2 inlets one above the motor and the second connected to the ram with a flapper connected to a choke cable. where when you open one it closes the other. It shouldn't be that hard to build.
Plus you can switch to warm air when starting for easier starts then switch to cold air for mileage.
Sorry about the lousy picture i drew it in about 2 min
I just take my cold air from behind and below the driver-side headlight - not a ram air, but it's a real cold air setup and it don't care for snow or rain...
if you want to go open element then use the 6637 napa paper cone filter, other wise i would just buy some high flow drop in filter and make a snorkel and get a scoop cut the rad support and have ram-air, or guy hypermaxs route and buy hypermaxes cold air intke which is also a really good option
If you do decide to go the NAPA 6637 route, don't buy it from NAPA unless you like getting hosed. NAPA wanted almost $60 for one the last time I checked...
