The install time is just a couple hours once you have your parts. Really staight forward upgrade. Depending on the hose you use, the whole thing should run you less than a $100.00. So many guys are just running it out to the atmosphere but in Washington state there are now regular emissions inspections on our diesel trucks. I know other states are probably starting emission inspections on them as well. My thought is just do it right the first time, stay compliant and no smell.
The reason that this modification is being pushed for school buses is that 1) school buses make lots of stops with the door open (and it takes the kids a while to climb on and off the bus), 2) the bus drivers have an occupational safety issue with breathing the toxic fumes, and 3) all this will be paid for by the "rich" - meaning us taxpayers.
I noticed all the kits for the T444E are the same filter (X009871).
For the return point, how about that plug were you check to see if you have PMR connecting rods?
Excellent idea, Jock. Hadn't thought of that location but it should work well. If oil would be pouring in I would be a little afraid of it being foamed by the crank spinning but it would be just trickling in at most so should work fine. Good catch.
