I removed my factory air box and installed the " Donaldson Blue 6637 " from Riffraff. I love the way the throttle response is but I am concerned at how huge the filter is. The size causes it to stick all the way under the fender and when I washed the truck the filter got wet.
I know this filter is supposed to not absorb water from what I have been reading but it seems the engine could suck it in. Do you guys running this set up notice this? I have included a picture but the end of the filter is under the lip of the fender so the hood would close. Did I say this thing is huge LOL. I used 2 clamps on the duct because the first one ran out of thread before I felt it was tight.
I have had several of these 6637 setups on previous 7.3's. The only time water became an issue was when I would wash/spray under the hood. At that point, I would put a plastic bag over the filter. I never had an issue of water through the fender. I would say just be aware of that from now on when you spray in your fender. Mine looked pretty much like yours:
