Frame swap
i am building a street beast 1933 ford vicky, frame rails are only 26 inches wide and I fit a 351w into it, but it is very tight.
by comparison, my 1940 ford one ton pickup has a width of 27.5 inches between rails and the frame is a c channel, so you might get a little more working room there too.
now for the caution - you Really need to watch out for all the accessories - i have had a hell of a time finding brackets and misc pulleys that will fit in such a tight area. they make them all day long for chevy stuff , but not for ford. the junkyard stuff from mid 80s broncos and mustangs matches the bolt patterns, but may not work due to clearance issues. measure carefully!
if you want power brakes and power steering and AC, you need to find a complete engine with the dressing, otherwise plan on spending another 1000-2000 plus dollars. I did mine on the cheap, made my own brackets, got patterns from krcpower.com
headers may need to be tight tuck, tried 3 different ones before found the right fit. even then I had to weld up an extension from the 4-1 collector to have clearance with the motor mount.
i used a 1967 cougar brake system, cardone pn 50-3202, and a cardone ps pump from a corvette, 84-87, pn 20-876. pulleys etc are from specter, transdapt, or ebay. but be careful, not all will work. you must pay attention to every little detail. i.e shaft sizes are not all identical.
dont forget - summit racing - you will need a brake proportioning valve for rear brakes and 2 check valves, one for front, one for rear if the master is located under the truck floor - probably not the case in a car. spec 2 psi if disc brakes, 10 psi if drums.
send me a note if you need more info, good luck!
