Unibody/Lightning Frame swap

This is not my deal, just curious as to what you guy's think about this. A fellow I know has a Unibody long BBW and a complete late model Ford Lightning chassis. He is debating as to whether to do the CV front swap on the Uni frame or swap the entire Lightning frame under his Uni. The frame is useable (minor damage in front) but this is a LWB Uni so the frame would need to be extended. Ideas or experience with this deal?

William,

Check the legalities of re framing the vehicle with Utah DMV.

I would not put a CV under my worst enemies vehicle. Flexible ladder frames and aluminum sub frames do not mix well.

Lightning CV Swap

Thanks Dave. This Guy builds (as a hobby) some pretty nice trucks. He will be able to fabricate pretty much anything he wants to. I thought one of Steve's Dakota frame kits would be a better setup than the CV deal. I think one issue he has with a complete frame swap is this is a long bed and the wheel base would be an issue. Utah is really supportive for us Car Guy's. Registering my frame swap only required a Police Officer verification of the VIN and I even got a Vintage tag for 10 bucks a year. Old vehicles are routinely transferred on a Bill of Sale. I'll discuss this with him soon.

most frame swaps I have been around involve much more work than a simple suspension swap. I plan on using a jag IFS on mine. Fits nicely and very simple to install but I also plan on the truck being slammed.
