Do the OBS trucks have the factory connections for the AIC and if so where? I have somebody at work here who has one and is willing to give it to me for around $75. Anyrate I Hvaent been feeling very good for the last few days and dont remeber ever seeing a connector like thaat under the dash and dont feeel good enough to lay on the floor in the dark in the cold right now so I thought Id ask you guys instead.
I'm not really 100% sure what the AIC does, i'm guessing its for idle purposes, but I have a high idle tune on my chip, not sure if that is something I'd even want.
i may be wrong so dont quote me but im pretty sure f350's do because they have a pto on the t-case. i assume wiring would be the same though. even if the f250's dont it should relatively easy to wire up. i think they go off the throttle position sensor
The AIC connector will be in 1 of 2 places, originally they were installed over by the E-Brake pedal, if you look right above along the fender wall you will see a wire with a round plug. Mine being a 96 F250 it was located directly above the OBD2 port dead center under the dash, was wrapped up with a bunch of other wires, plugged it in, hit the E-Brake (has to be on to work) and walla! Instant throttle!!
Yes your truck should have the plug under the dash for the AIC. I've never heard of it being by the E-brake, I've always heard it was above the trans tunnel hump on an OBS. I too have a high idle tune on my chip, but I like having the AIC for RPM and voltage read-out, plus it gives me adjustability if I want the truck to idle at other than stock or 1200rpm. I wired a toggle switch to mine so that I don't have to set the e-brake to use the AIC as well.
It allows you to turn up the idle for faster warm-ups, jump starting, etc. It also gives digital read-out of RPM (on 2 of the 3 models) and battery voltage. There are 3 models-
basic with no LCD screen
LCD screen version- displays RPM and batt voltage
PTO version- has separate controls for running a PTO if your truck is so equipped
X3 on over the tranny hump. My truck is wired for it and it didnt come with one so I'm sure that yours would be to. IIRC its a round plug with an orange rubber gasket that is dead center under the dash.

Yes, it's a round plug with 4 wires. Here's where it is in my SD:
Plug circled in red, AIC connected
That's actually an OBS bracket, it still works for the SD I just had to flip it around. I now have a lighted rocker switch in the bracket to the right of the AIC that fools the PCM into thinking the e-brake is set so that I don't have to set the e-brake to use the AIC.

Why would you wanna run it with out the E-Brake on?? Might work for a cruise control on the flats but I'd sure hate to accidentally hit that switch and end up rear ending somebody......

For the AIC to work:
E-brake must be set
Trans must be in park (or neutral for a stick shift)
Can't have your foot on the brake or gas pedal
There is no way having the e-brake bypassed is going to cause me to crash into another rig.
I don't know for sure on the OBS, but on the SD the e-brake sensor that trips the light is a hoky little piece of crap, and all it takes is a little dust to make it not work. So I pulled the wire off (its just a single wire that goes to ground) and ran it through the switch so that when I flip the switch, it ground the circuit and the "BRAKE" light on the dash comes on.
Thanks guys thats what I needed to know, I like the grounding wire switch idea, that way I could leave the ebrake off. works ideally if you are running a winch turn on the AIC set it on charge protect and let the winch pull you out, without killing the batteries.

I got a perfect winch for this.... 8000 pound winch for sale. I want AIC too.
