trouble getting idle perfect HELP
I just got an edelbrock carb for my 400 but i cant get the idle dialed in. i got it to where it runs and drives and idles and everything without dying but it just doesnt seem right. runs weird and the truck is shaky. the guy a bought the carb from said it was jetted for a chevy 427 does that matter?
and what can i do to fix this?

Of course, you got to re-calibrate it, check your spark plugs, my guess its running lean due to the difference in CID.
Also which eddie? there's a serial number stamped in the base of the carb, right in the front left corner, i think. The most common ones start with a 14XX

meteriing rods and jets. look on Edelbrocks web site. They may have some tutorials. Basically you replace these components to better suit the needs of your engine. its fairly easy to do on the edelbrock. Most of the time you can just change the metering rods and leave the jets if its not too big of a difference. On the website(Edelbrock) they may show the tunig chart to help you decide what sizes to try. You can buy the tune up/calibraton kit from Jegs or Summit. the kit will definitely have the chart.
