does anyone know what would cause my factory navigation radio to always be on the "night" setting when on "auto"? the only way i can get it on the "day" mode is to set it to day only.
yeah...the place i bought it from programmed a new one yesterday and sent it out. when that one gets here tomorrow i will send them back the 1st one they sent me.
This may be my issue too, but, the first I've actually seen someone have a "fix"... I swapped a '06 Mark LT radio into an '04 FX4, no illumination. Can you tell me who you bought your radio from? Thanks.

In your case this should not have caused an issue. The Mark LT was based off the F150 platform which had a hardwired illumination feed in 06. The 04 fx4 is also hardwired. Did the Mark have white dash lighting or green? I can tell you how to check the complete configuration of your radio. While in park, press and hold the '3' and '6' preset buttons at the same time. You can skip the speaker walk test as it is really annoying. Once you are in the diagnostics menu, you should be able to view the configuration status. Scroll down to illumination and see if it is set to MSCAN or hardwired/pwm. You can also check for any DTC's which will highlight any issues you may be having. Let me know what you come up with..
Thanks. I will check that as soon as I can. Might be a few days... I was hoping someone had a real "procedure" so I don't brick it! I thought that they were both the same, but am wondering if the '06 LT had some fancy lighting dimming or something. I will reply with results either way. Oh, since an e-bay radio, not sure on the color. The seller said the lighting worked, and wondered why it wasn't also. But, you never know...
It is black, but doesn't say either when powered up...
I did do the 3 and 6 key preset button check last night, and have some interesting results, but, was not able to find where it would scroll down to the "illumination" screen for any changes. Arrggg, so close! But, I did find all of this:
Button 1 - self test - fail B1342ECU and B2477 Config
Button 2 - DTCS found the above two and B1318BAT L
Button 3 - Signal 56/7
Button 4 - Soft levels - Main: 00_2D_0, CDSP: 01_04_0, CD: 24_40_0 and SDR: 00_00_0
Button 5 - Display test - YAAAYYY it works.. all buttons illuminated and then black... arrggggg
Button 6 - No Config - all Configs 1-6=0, with 7L3T 18C8 15EG at the front
So... at least I know all the lights are getting power. Now, I do have the GROM audio MP3/Ipod/Aux adapter installed into the changer 16pin port, and it always has power. So, that may be keeping me from getting to the appropriate menu. Or, I'm missing a button stroke somewhere. That may be for this weekend if so!
GROM (the aux input box maker) suggested I remove their unit and retry the procedure. No luck. Is there a way to clear the errors? Maybe that is causing the radio to not let a config. change be made. While aggravating, it works, just dark. Now more of a puzzle, which makes you want to solve it even more! Maybe I need to send it somewhere for a reprogram?
Rob, you do have the Pioneer unit with a 6 cd changer integrated correct. The map dvd is accessed by pushing a button and the screen opens? Just confirming we are talking the same unit here. Is your 04 an F150 FX4? Can you post a pic of your unit?
