I will agree with Ford tranny electric pumps are made to push not pull and they use the fuel to lubricate and and cool the pumps. That filter in the picture is a complete joke.
Dyoung I would rethink using the mechanical pump to oil the turbo for several reasons. It only puts out around 6 pounds for one thing and it is a diaphram pump that would not be suitable for the turbo.

He's using the pump access hole for an oil return from a turbo, atleast that's how I read it. What are you thinking?
The pump I'm using is to replace the original fuel pump on the side of the engine. I don't have a turbo. The pump is to push Diesel from the fuel tanks to the Injection Pump. No turbo anywhere.

Not talking about you, we refered to DYOUNG14 post #8.
im going to convert to electric pump some time as my factory lift pump i beilieve just cant keep up when i pass 4000 rpm, and im going to use the factory pump for oil return for my turbo

there is more than one person on oilburners doing it as we speak with absolutley no problems at all, one guy the truck is his daily driver the other guy im buying his remote mount turbo system from him
Why does it need a pump for the ol return. How low is the turbo mounted.
im going to do a remote mount turboo next to the trasfer case like some other people on oil burners has, and no one even start to try to tell me it wont boost good cause its proven it works as good if not better with a bigger turbo than is normally found on an idi, One guy is using a DT466 turbo it will boost past 18 psi easy with a maxxxed out ip, and only 900 degrees egt, im going to use a wastegated psd turbo remote mount,
dyoungen,
so does the pump work at all now when you power it directly?
i think the problem may be that little filter.it wouldn't take long for it to plug up.
other than that,i dunno what the problem could be.there's been a few using the same pump made for gas and they have have reported success with it.
if she's burned up now tho,and you have a holly red,id just use that pump.
i'm gunna try this pump because its half the price, and should be all thats needed.
make sure you have a good ground like 87crewdually pointed out.
maybe they're not all the great of pumps, and a waste of time trying lol.
Nappy nate has the best one going. It was designed by AC Spark Plug Division of GM to use on their imitation diesels. One tested to 10,000 hours without failure. You can install it in the line between the pump and the filter and it will allow fuel to flow through. I use mind to prime my system when I let mine sit for 3-4 weeks. Works like a champ. $45.00 from Ebay. On my 6.9, it pumped enough to smoked like hell when I was towing my skidsteer up a hill in 3rd on the floor (T18). I've read bad things about that Mr Gasket pump. Google it and you'll find out.
i have had my mr gasket on for about 60,000 miles i think i got it on sale for $35.....im cheap what can i say.i need to get another one to leave in the tool box though.just in case

there ya go! yeah, that's what i figured too.the other pumps you pay more for higher pressure and more GPH that's just overkill for the idi.thats good results there.holding up good.are you using the stock filter too or?
