transmission trouble
i have a 91 ranger with 3.0 and an a4ld trans.my problem is when i put it in od barely moves when i rev it so i go to reverse does the same thing . then if i turn the engine off and restart put it in drive does fine go down road shifts fine shift up to od goes right in but when i stop wont pull again unless i turn engine off and restart and put it in drive. how can i solve this problem if possible all help appreciated thanks

You could start by making sure the trans fluid level is up where it should be and that it isn't a dark brown and doesn't have a burned smell. If you have around 145k or so miles on it you may expect to get it rebuilt around that point. My 91 4.0 A4LD was doing something similar to yours and I had to get it overhauled to fix the problem. About $1400!!! If you do that, make sure they give you a good warranty too. Ask around for a good trans shop.
