Im surprised that the 2 cycle oil made it higher than diesel kleen. I live in Midland, Texas and im not sure there is anywhere around here to get biodiesel.
So the best is to dump in 17oz of 2% REG SoyPower biodiesel? I've never heard of it and have never seen it around here.
With 2 stroke oil, I started at 0.5oz/gal and worked up to 1.5oz/gal. I ran 8 tanks of fuel with Penzoil 2 stroke oil and not a single thing changed in the way it ran and the fuel economy stayed the same. I figured it was a snake oil myth, the wife was pissed off, and I switched to DK. With DK, it seemed to idle smoother, increase throttle response and fuel economy. I went with the lower dose/mixture on the instructions. I was still skeptical thinking I was going nuts, so I let the wife drive and I didn't tell her about the DK additive. She asked what I did to the truck to make it run so well. We've run DK since.
you would have to put alot of atf in your fuel before it turned red....prob wouldn't run very well.
Remember the 2 stroke to diesel ratio is about 200:1
I have a friend that is a Ford OEM powerstroke senior tech- he told me about this around a year or so back. His recommendation was 1 pint per tankful (about 30 gal).... I did notice the engine run smoother, not a big mileage improvement - maybe 1/2 mpg if that.. but when I can feel a different in engine vibration (less) I think it's worth it. I really mean no offense here, but, is your wife a diesel mechanic? I know mine isnt and I'll be da**ed if I let her have any opinion on what I put in my fuel tank! As long as the passenger side butt warmer works, she is happy!
I'm not looking for any mileage increase, nor do I expect one. I use two stroke simply to help lube the fuel system...pump, injectors ect.
I stopped using it for two tanks, to give DK a try, only difference that I noticed was a louder engine.
I have since went back to 2 stroke, and things are a bit quieter again.
It may be more noticable on higher mileage engines. I have 246k on my injectors and the two stroke makes a difference.
The Diesel Kleen will improve the operation of the engine mainly due to the cetane rating boost. I use DK and 1 or 2 pints of 2 cycle oil per tank when I am going on long trips and/or hauling heavy. That's when you will notice the difference.
