My Experience with Archoil 9100

When I bought my 2005 Excursion October 2013, it was obvious that the previous owner didn't maintain the truck as well as I now do. I found aftermarket fuel filters and alot of important maintenance items left undone.

When I got it home, I had Powerstroke Enginuities go through the engine and fix the issues it had, as well as add a few updates, freshen up the engine, and the usual bulletproofing. The one thing neither myself or the good people at Powerstoke Enginuities could know, was that my injectors were quietly suffering from stiction. (keep in mind this was WITH the latest Inductive Heating flash from Ford)

I say quietly, because since I bought the truck and drove it home from Amarillo, it never seemed as smooth and as quiet as a 6.0 normally was.

-Extended crank times (sometimes I wondered if the engine was going to start then it would start)

-Performance even with Gearhead's SRL+ tune felt like there was power left on the table.

-No matter what I did I could never average more than 14.5 mpg either all highway or mixed.

-I made sure it had the proper fluids, filters, and used either Stanadyne, 2 cycle oil, Diesel Kleen, or Ford's PM22-A fuel additives to keep things lubricated and clean on the fuel side of the injector. Not much of a change, in fact it seemed to drink down diesel even more.

Out of options and ready to just get used to my truck running that way, I tried some Archoil 9100. (I had just changed the oil at 130,767 and added archoil at 132,108) After driving to and from work (90 mile round trip 5 days a week, mostly highway), my truck ran noticeably smoother. Now at 135K:

-Starts (cold and hot) take WAY less time and are MUCH smoother than they ever were.

-The engine idles smoother and quieter. Before when I would pull up to a drive thru window, I actually had to turn the engine off as I did with my 7.3. After running AR9100 for almost 3,000 miles, I've been able to easily place my order WITH the engine running.

-Before, my engine had it's moments going down the freeway and even around town. Sometimes while cruising the engine would seem to have 7.25 or 7.5 injectors as the engine would lose power and I'd have to mash it to wake the injector back up. Since running Archoil 9100, the problem has slowly disappeared and then completely disappeared; I haven't had or felt a momentary loss of power with my truck since. My truck in fact feels stronger, more powerful, and is more responsive than the day I first brought it home.

-My mileage went from an average of 13-14.5 mpg to 15-17 mpg

-Cold and Hot performance has dramatically improved

Bottom line: The engines idles, runs, and drives, nice, smooth and quiet like a 6.0 should

I highly recommend Archoil 9100 as a top maintenance item to anyone who buys a used 6.0 or even if you've had yours for awhile and want to do a little PM. It definitely does what Archoil says it does for the 6.0 and 7.3 without question.

I agree.

I didn't have any performance issues when I added it, instead I added the Archoil 9100 to help prevent any issues. It made the motor ALOT quieter.

While I had "thought" it was quieter, I thought it could be in my head.....until my wife was riding with me and mentioned the truck was much quieter. That's when I knew it was real.

I have used it and works great. You only add it once unless you have a lot of build up and then you can do it twice. The fuel additive is really good as well.

As I did with Hot Shot Secret with my 7.3, it's a once a year thing. Unless I somehow feel it can benefit some another treatment, it'll be a once a year thing.

The winter is a great time for it to really shine, but if I'm doing it again, I would do it during the summer when it's nice and hot and the Archoil can really work it's magic.

I'd do the fuel additive by itself and not mix it with diesel kleen.

Splashed it in, my truck runs better, isn't the end of the story. Post back in a few months. Are you using the fuel additive also?

That's a funny part...

Being in Texas I was too impatient to wait 5-7 for it to ship from Connecticut, so I ordered it from a local seller in Beaumont 2 hours away from me. He didn't have the fuel additive in stock, so I ran some Stanadyne instead.

I can only imagine the results had I used the Archoil fuel additive. I'll be ordering some for the 6.0 and 7.3 soon.

Just to clarify for those that live in the cold climates....The Archoil 6200 fuel treatment will not replace the white bottle Dieselkleen that is used during below freezing temps.

I use both the grey Dieselkleen and Archoil 6200 together with no problems. I'm sure it's a waste of money, but when I run out of Dieselkleen, I'll try the Archoil 6200 only and see how it does by itself.

I'm also sold on AR9100. Been running it for a year or two now.

I think you have to use it with every oil change. I do not think it does anything lasting to your injectors. It only works when it is in the oil.

Curious what oil you've been running? In my experience, the results using the AR9100 was pretty close to the same as just running T-6 5W/40 synthetic. But I prefer running the AR9100 and 15W/40 conventional oil, and it costs about the same or a little less.

From what I've read, AR9100 actually cleans up and the stiction and doesn't just mask it. Unless I misread...

Have you tried Rev-x? Ive been using it with the last few oil changes with 5-40 and cant say ive noticed a difference. Just texted my friend who is an archoil dealer and hes shipping me a bottle of this stuff though. I have like 2 bottles of the fuel additive, ive just been running it in my snowmobiles and snowblower lol
