2 cycle oil????

Hey guys i have a rumor that with this ultra low sulfur diesel they have now my 02 7.3 diesel if you add 1 oz of 2 cycle oil for every gallon that it will help the engine run smoother and idle smoother. is this true?

I use 2-cycle in mine with the Diesel Klean.I used to run trans fluid until I learned on here about the 2-cycle.I still believe both work but 2-cycle is a burning oil.

Yes on 2 stroke. I use the walmart brand, (blue bottle, marine ashless). $11 a gallon, 1/2 oz to 1 oz per gallon diesel.

helps lube the injectors, and keeps them quiet.:-D

I just read about this in one of the diesel magazines a couple of months ago, it actually immproved mileage on the test truck.

Yeah a friend of mine with a cummins diesel told me about it. I have been using diesel cleanin mine but hadn't heard about the 2 cycle oil. He said he has done it once and he could notice a difference right away. I didn't know if the fords had a sensor or part that could get messed up from running the oil through it. And I have heard that the walmart stuff is actually what is suggested I don't know if it really is or it's just price wise.

Here is a thread that I started a while back about the subject.I have been using 2 stroke in every tank since without any problems. Oh, and the walmart brand is called Supertech that I use.

My conclusion after running several tanks with 2-stroke oil:

absolute horse****

kdokey 01-10-2010 11:16 AM

why you say that jason

mechelement 01-10-2010 11:19 AM

Because it didn't do a thing. Nothing changed. I tried different dilutions and then quit buying it.

I added white bottle DK and noticed a slight improvement in fuel economy. I've stuck with DK... Nothing with the 2-stroke oil though.

Here is a link to a lubrication study someone did: Lubricity Additive Study Results - Diesel Place

I run 5% biodiesel when I can. The two stroke does help some but a little further down the list.

I have been running the Wally World brand in mine for a couple of months. About a 1/2 oz per gallon of fuel. It might idle a little quieter but I can't say for sure. No difference in mileage, but mileage sucks with winter fuel and excessive idling anyway. I'm going to keep adding it, it can't hurt anything, it is cheap, I think it should help make up for some of the lost lubricants in ULSD. That is just my two cents worth, nothing to back it up.

I would reccomend not using the ATF because it is red, and if your truck gets dipped by the dot, you will be in the doghouse. I would only use blue colored additives that way the dot does not think you are running off hyway fuel in your truck. Red is not ok in your fuel.
