my friend is giving me his old super chip programmer, do i have to reprogram it to my trucks VIN or is it simply a plug and play, thank you for your input in advance
Hopefully it is still labeled with the PCM code. Compare that to yours. It will either work or it won't. I did the same thing and even tho the PCM was the same, it just falt out didnt' work. No start no nothing. I call about it and they said bad chip. Either they work or they don't.
ok i guess i give it a shot, it was working on his truck but he sold it like 3 years ago and the chip has been sitting in the box in his garage. thank you for your quick response
so the truck should be on when i install the programmer?......
haha thanks guys, if the tuner is locked with his old VIN is there anywhere to decode it?
The 1705 SC programmer is a handheld with a cable that plugs into your comp. port under the dash like Ray described. If it is the handheld version, you will need your keys to turn the key to the starting position to select your power levels and program the PCM, I have one, for reading codes now., 60Tow, I think 90 and 100 performance. If its a chip you put in the PCM, then hide your keys goes into effect.

awesome, so even though he used it on his truck there is a good chance i could use it on mine? he was under the impression that it had to be reset because he had to enter his VIN into it. thanx again

One thing, and I just learned this awhile back, if the previous owner didn't set the programmer back to stock, it won't let you program yours. Reason SC did that is they don't want you programming other trucks for a fee, my assumtion anyways. When you plug it in and follow the directions on the handheld screen, if it tells you its vin locked, the PO didn't set it back to stock, so you need to give it back to him so he can set his back, then it will work in your truck.

There is some good choices out there, from the realitivy inexpensive 6637 filter thats a throwaway but suck enormous amounts of air to if you want a cold air intake like the S-B, great filtering properties and breaths alot of air, they have an oiled element and dry now. I have the oiled and its reusable so no more buying filters again. I'm keeping my truck for the long haul so it maked sence to me. Here's where to get both systems, S-B or the 6637 filter http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/mm5/me...ode=F731-IN-SB
thank you, i dont think he put it back to stock and he doesnt have the truck anymore. i have a k&n filter on the truck now but i was told that these trucks dont like the oil based filters. what kind of exhaust do you have. I was told that the straight pipe is very loud inside the passanger comparment.
is 4" or 5" better, thanx again
