i have the 1705 tuner as well, i have not noticed it making my truck ship any diffrently? can you all think of a reason?
You should be able to feel firmer shifts, crisp. Put it on performance and you should feel the difference. It was like night and day when I got the 1705. I actually took my truck in to Ford, was under warranty then and asked them about my trucks delayed shifting between gears and they said their computer didn't reveal anything.
i usually run it in tow/performance. i know the chip works as far as the motor, but when casually driving and even towing it still shifts into overdrive at 40-45. my buddy has an older superchip with setting choices being performance and off road. the off road setting is kind of like the tow safe on the 1705, but to me seems to make a little more power. .02
I keep mine in the performance setting even while towing. The check engine light comes on while towing below 70mph. I forget how many years i have had it on the truck.

Even with these off the shelf tuners, I still would be towing in the towing settings, running that performance setting raises your line pressures up a bit and towing could put extra stress and heat on your tranny, not recommended. Not to rain on anybody, because I had one and at the time, it did its job but if you really want to feel what your truck can really do, DPTuner, PHP, Tony Wildman, Swamps and a few other select "Tuners" will wake your truck up, period. I take care of my truck, no beating on it but man when I want to go, I flip the switch and I'm gone, that much power, do some research.
