Just received headliner and other interior panels from Roddoors and they look good but not impressed with the fit especially the two front corners above the windshield. Also I assume the headliner and other panels are held in place with the dualloc tape which presents another problem because the tape itself is thicker then the depth of the lip around the door where the panels rest. Any suggestions, pictures or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Bob
Those are my door panels that you got, it’s a long story, I will tell you about it someday.
There was another thread (maybe) (# 3) about using clips but can’t find it and desert is ready so you will have to look, check backwards from posts by the guy saying thanks / sent e mail, the two post here talk about Rod Doors panels and some solutions.
I did not use the clips from Rod Doors on mine. Went to the hardware store and some small black automotive trim screws. Its dosent take much to hold in place, I drove mine a couple weeks befor I fastened it to truck. My front corners dont fit perfect but take your time and work with it and you can get them pretty close.
I used the rod doors headliner on my 55 and had a similar problem with the front two corners as well. I trimmed mine a bit and added some tabs to get it to fit better. I think it turned out pretty well, but it required me to put it in about 5 times before I ended up upholstering it.
On the door panels, I didn't use rod doors, but my father made similar ones from sheet ABS. I had the same issue as yourself with the dual lock holding the panel out beyond the reveal on the door. I decided to go with push in fasteners, which you can read about at the end of this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...-f-series.html
I'm very happy with the fasteners. They were cheap and easy to find, easy to use/install on the panel, hold the door panel very securely, and don't threaten to tear apart my fingers or the door panel like the metal style ones.
