I have a 2003 Ranger, 4x4, 4.0L, 5spd manual tranny. The transfer case is a Borg Warner 1354. I was planning on changing the fluid in the trasnfer case but I can't locate the drain plug. I located the plug that is labeled "ATF Level" and it's up where the fill level should be at. Does anyone have a pic of these cases showing the drain plug?

 

The drain plug is behind the damper, which looks like an oversized steel hockey puck. You need to remove the damper (4 bolts) to get at the drain plug.

Thanks for the help. I looked there but didn't see anything. Of course I'm wearing bifocals so that didn't help much.

Is yours a manual (mechanical) shift, or is it automatic (electric)? My advice is based on an electric shift. I'm not sure about the manual.

 

I'm sure that the manual shift is in the same place. I've drained both models, and the plug is behind the damper.
