There is strange popping..kind of streching metal sound I can't quite explain coming from it seems just under your feet while in the driver seat. Only happens when starting off..or stoping. I have greased everything down there. Seems to be much less when its raining. The truck has 91,000 miles but is lifted. V-10. I know there other post on here about noises but they seem to be of a different nature. Any ideas? Wouldn't be a hub would it?
Sway bar end links look good. Truck drives perfectly straight, no wondering or pull. From a dead stop..sounds alomost like a worn out door hinge sound when your closing it..kinda screeching, popping. When I am just about to come to a stop, sound again. Otherwise no noise at all. Sounds like something is flexing or twisting. I don't know, but it drives me nuts
More than likely it's the body mounts. There is one directly under your left foot. You have to pull the kickplate and peel back the carpet to get to it. Tightening just the front ones got rid of this noise for me.
Does it sound kind of like a grinding noise and when you let off the accelerator it goes away? My 04 just started doing this a month ago and it's been driving me nuts as well. Seems to happen only when its cold and only during intermittent accelerations.
