I just got my wifes 04 EB exp. handed down to me so time to start working on it...I was just wondering if anybody has tried running 255/75/17 tires? They're only a hair taller and skinnier than stock so i imagine they should be fine,I ran the bigger 285/70/17's on my F-150 with no problem but didn't know if the exp. would be different.
Also putting in a P.I.E aux adapter on the stock radio and wondering if the dash removal is as easy as it seems....just the screws by the speedo, pop off the vents and the bezel? Thanks
a good tire shop should be able to help. Personally i stay with the recommended tire size. The engineers are supposed to come up with the tire size that works best for a given eom set up.
Don't forget about the "spare issue." If you ever need the spare you may be in trouble; putting two different size tires on the same axle may be a bad idea.
Been running 285/70R17's on my 03 with stock wheels for almost 2 years with out any problems. As for the spare, just make sure the odd size tire is on the front. Or see if a matching size will fit in the holder and find one used for cheap.
80,00 miles on the Michelin LTX M/S 255 70R 16, very quiet and great when it rains, lots of rubber between road and rim for all the RR crossings (not too many potholes here in FL)
His truck is an EB, aren't the AWD vehicles? It's never a good idea to put different size tires on drive axles.
If his truck is even a 4WD, all 03 and newer Expys have a 2WD option on the selector, doesn't matter what the trim level is. However, your statement is correct about using different sized tires when in AWD, or 4WD for that matter.
Thanks broncoholic, good to know i won't have any issues going with a little bigger tire..and yea,it's 4wd with 2wd/AWD option and i wouldn't put different size tires on an AWD,i'm no noob.
also - yes dash removal is just those two screws (I think 7mm but not positive). I also had to put it down in first and drop the wheel all fo the way down. pay attention to all of the plugs you pull off (i forgot one and lost a few lights inside initially). Not sure what adapter you are going to use and for what - I have one of the pie modules that gave me the aux input and it worked pretty good but ended up replacing the head unit. congrats on the new to you ride, Mike.

Thanks alot for the info...sounds like i got pretty much the same thing you had,a pie interface so i can directly hookup my sirius stiletto via the "cd/aux" or the "sat" buttons. Did you get a different head unit because you weren't happy with the pie module?
No - I swapped out the HU because my daughters car seat is in the middle and is perfect for her to view videos up front. I looked at a lot of drop down ones - but they all blocked too much of the mirror. Also - if she is not watching a movie - I only listen to my ipod. I can not even think of the last time i tuned in a radio station. I was not dissatisfied with the pie adapter that I recall - but I literally only used it for a few days. I think it is in the box up in my closet now, kind of forgot about it. Plus I plan on putting a rear cam in and i hooked up hands free with my cell phone. All of this was easier to do with an aftermarket head unit than trying to "hang" these things off of the factory deck. By the time I would have bought modules to do everything - it would have been close to the price of a new head unit - so I went that route instead. Thanks, Mike
Well it's too bad i didn't talk to you sooner i could have bought that module from you instead! Anyway, thanks again good to hear you didn't have any problems with it..and i hear you on not listening to regular radio...i can't remember the last time i listened to it either, just use my stiletto for mp3's and howard stern and i had to go with headrest dvd's for my two little ones so they can watch whatever they want back there.
