my 01 exped came with 265/70/17 wheels and i want to put bigger tires on it . i was thinking of either 285/70/17 or 33x12.5x17 will either of these tires work with out changing the rims.
I have 285/70/17s on my '00 Exp. I made a deal with a local tire guy - promised him I'd buy 4 tires from him if he did me a favor. He ordered a single tire for me to try-out. Once I saw it on the truck and was able to turn the wheel all the way both directions, I bought all 4. It's close in the front but I've got about 25k miles on them now with no problems. This size gives you a lot more options. You go from a "LT" (light truck) tire with a 2-3 ply rating? to a real truck tire with a 6 ply rating. I have BFG All-Terrain and love them.
i was thinking either the mud terrain or the all terrain by bfg
does any one know what the tread life would be on the bfg mud terrains where i drive mostly on road i really like the aggresive look

My 3/4 ton has "LT"235/85r16 and they are 8 ply load range E tires....????
Firestone Destination MT's come in sizes up to 35-12.50s and they are the tires I will recommend to everyone, good wear good traction low noise and a ton of sizes available. Might save you a few pennies over BFGs also but i can't promise that.
will 33x13.5 fit? My company builds custom wheels and I want to build either a 20 or 22 on the wifes expedition. I would like to run the Mickey Thompson ATZ's in a 33x13.5-20.

that's a pretty wide tire for an expy unless you have a little lift. Why would you want to embarass your wife with 20's and mud tires on an expy anyway
what about goodyear mtr's 285/70/17
went to tire rack and saw alot of good reviews
i live in new england and need a tire that will be able to handle the snow and ice on road
The goodyears are good tires I wont argue that but I was thinking of going to bigger rims for the less sidewall, and firmer ride. Plus 20's are in! Also with the 20's it will look like a nice fat square tire on the 13.5" wides.
